Wade fishing the James River: Spend an afternoon wet wading the historic James River stalking Smallmouth Bass, Catfish, Spotted Gar, Sunfish and more! Hone your fly fishing skills within eyesight of the Richmond skyline or further up the river. Learn to read the river water, entice numerous species to eat your fly and enjoy an afternoon on the scenic James River. Four hours fishing. $175 single angler/$225 for two/$300 for three.
Kayak fish the Chickahominy Reservoir: Fly fish the gorgeous Chickahominy Reservoir from kayak for Largemouth Bass, Sunfish and Chain Pickerel. Only 40 minutes east of Richmond, this body of water is lined with Cypress trees and lilly pads and makes you feel as if you are fishing a swamp in the deep south! This is a very cool paddle and fly fishing trip around some very wild looking water in Virginia. Four hours fishing. $225 single angler/$275 for two/ $300 for three.
Kayak fish the lower Rappahannock River: Join us on a saltwater fly fishing trip for Striped Bass, Sea Trout, Puppy Drum, Bluefish, Croaker and White Perch at the mouth of the Rappahannock River. Launch from beautiful Topping, Virginia (70 minutes from Richmond) and kayak fish the surrounding docks, grass beds and islands for feisty saltwater fish. Trips may be tide dependent. Four hours of fishing. $250 single angler/$300 for two/ $350 for three.
Kayak fish for Snakeheads and Largemouth Bass: Ever heard of the infamous Snakehead? The invasive fish that breathes air and walks on land? Well they love to eat flies with vicious attacks and head shaking fights! We’ve got it figured out how to catch these from a kayak. 70 minute drive from Richmond. Four hours of fishing. $250 single angler/$300 for two/ $350 for three.
Night kayak fly fishing: Join us on a night time adventure kayak fishing for Striped Bass, Redfish and Sea Trout around dock lights at night. These fish are focused on chasing small shrimp and minnows that congregate around lighted docks in the summer and fall. They are very aggressive fish and a great way to boat a lot of fish if you are a “numbers” fisherman. Three hours fishing. $200 single angler/$275 for two anglers.
Kayak fishing trips are limited to three anglers. Each angler will fish from a single kayak provided by KTRW.
All rods, reels, flies and necessary equipment provided!
Fishing licenses are NOT provided by KTRW. Contact us for suggestions on where to get one or we can print them off for you in advance.
What to bring: Eyewear, sunscreen, snacks, clothes that can get wet and maybe a little dirty.
Custom Trips: Got a specific place you would like to fish? Own a private lake or pond and want to learn how to fish it? We love fishing different water and are open to suggestions! Give us a shout and we’ll get something set up!
Beginner lessons: Learn to fly fish at a local park in Richmond with expert instruction! You will be instructed on rod set up, casting, retrieving the fly, fish fighting and knot tying. Beginner lessons are perfect for corporate outings, school field trips and family events! Prices start at $100/2 hours per person.
Fly Tying Lessons: Ever wanted to learn to tie your own flies? With over 15 years of fly tying experience, KTRW can teach you how the art of creating your own flies. No experience needed, all materials are provided. $50/ 2 hour class
